Isolated nationalism in modern times
Unlike popular belief, there is some difference between a country and a nation. Nation cannot be assumed to be a fact of nature, like a country made of mountains, plains and plateaus. A country is a historic and geographic entity, while a nation is an economic or political entity. Country is more of a static entity, whereas nation is a dynamic entity that requires continuous re-structuring in order for it to win and hold trust of its people and the same reciprocated back by the people for their nation. Pi in Indian Mathematics
Pi or Π is the most interesting number in mathematics. Its history is one of the most fascinating stories mathematics has to offer. Π finds its usage in geometry, trigonometry, analysis. Π generally is associated with a circle. Indians were the first to observe that the perimeter (circumference) of a circle increases in proportion to its diameter. Therefore, our ancestors established the relation- perimeter / diameter = constant. They didn’t call it Pi though. Continue reading

The discovery of zero
Mathematics today owes its existence to the discovery of zero. For the purpose of calculation, it needed a short symbol. India for ages has denoted this number ‘shunya’ by both a dot (.) and a small circle (o). Understanding Vedic literature

The word veda is derived from the Sanskrit word vid- “to know”. These are a large body of texts originating in ancient India. The earliest scripture on earth is the Rig Veda, which was composed around 1700 BC. Continue reading
