Eleutheromaniac

I recently realized that I too suffer from a mania- “Eleutheromania”. What does that mean? It means a frantic zeal for freedom, an urge to be free! To get deeper into this self-analysis, I asked myself the very meaning of the word- ‘freedom’. Freedom does not give me the permission to harm others. But at the same time, it gives me the guts to break the shackles that inhibit me from doing what I know is right, stand up on my own feet and break free!

I personally don’t like man serving another man. I hate it when another human being serves for my luxury. I mean, it’s fine if the service is of an auto driver or that of a street hawker. But a rickshaw puller, a coolie or even a servant makes me feel uneasy. I get utterly disturbed when rich exploits poor. I dream of a world where no man serves the other- where everyone is free to act at his own will. I am a staunch believer of free software ideology. Freedom to the masses is what we stand for in the largest democracy in the world- the digital world! The internet!

Freedom is ‘the’ word that fascinates me the most! Freedom to dream, freedom to walk, freedom to know, freedom to work, freedom to love, freedom to speak and work towards a better world. I am strongly reminded of  Lennon’s Imagine –

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one!
