The Manipur mishap

Manipur is cut off again. NH 39 and NH 53, the two lifelines of Manipur, have been blocked for 3 months now! It started on started on 31st July, 2011, which is the longest blockade in the state’s history. Due to lack of resources, prices of food and other essential commodities have gone upto ten times their actual cost. There is an acute shortage of medical amenities there. Continue reading

Justice at least?

In mid 1992, several government officials rampaged a tribal village near Sathyamangalam forest in Tamil Nadu. They assembled the villagers at one place, and started searching the village for smuggled sandalwood. Then they dragged 18 teenage girls into the forest, where they raped them repeatedly. They brought the girls back in the night, and then dragged 133 villagers to jail, accusing them of smuggling sandalwood. 19 years later, on 29th September, 2011, the villagers have found justice.
